Devil's Flame - The Rise and Fall of a Hero ~ Continued [3]...
Hunched over in pain, the Devil’s Flame tried desperately to fend off the countless blows she was taking. First her back, then neck, then knees. On the ground she huddled, taking blow after blow.
“I will have my little pet back, even if it costs me all the souls in HELL!” the voice rumbled through her head.
“NO!”
From the balled figure on the ground came this blinding light, of such intensity that is seemed as if the sun itself was projecting from that point. Then a wave of intense heat, so hot that the car began to melt and the concrete began to fuse. Nothing was left of those who were pounding continuously on her. Nothing was left for a couple of blocks, which was lucky that most of the Citizens had cleared the area after the first couple displays of power.
She climbed to her feet trying desperately to get her bearings. Finally she was able to get her feet under her and began to move. She stumbled for blocks looking for a safe place to rest. She could already feel her body trying to repair itself using the fires within. Turning a corner she dropped to one knee… the pain too much at that point.
And then it came, “pet… Pet… PET… YOU HAVE ANGERED ME FOR THE LAST TIME!”
And then they were on her… two beings similar to those she had fought already, but somehow more powerful, she knew. She rose to her feet, determined to make it out of this battle as well. The first one swiped at her with hatchet. She threw her body backwards; the blow missing harmlessly and over balancing the attacker.

She slammed her fist right through his chest, igniting the flame within. He began to turn red, then orange, and then his chest just burst into flames. The Devil’s Flame was pleased with herself, having taken out one of Lucifer’s more powerful minions so easily.
Then the truth hit her… hit her so hard that it was the last thing she felt before she died. In her earnest she had forgotten about the second minion, and that was her final and fatal mistake.
“I told you, that was the last time you would anger me!”
