Devil's Flame - The Rise and Fall of a Hero ~ Continued [2]...

She began to fall within herself to seek out answers. Was she good? Did she have the heart of a champion? Was her exterior form a representation of her being? These were questions that she desperately tried to find the answers for.

“YOU DISAPPOINT ME!” cried a voice in her head. So loud that it dropped her to one knee. She knew at once that it was Lucifer himself. “I warned you that you would pay, and now you shall. If you won’t serve me, then DIE!”

Flames erupted beside her. She opened her eyes to see the devil’s henchman rising from the ground. Those Paragon citizens still in the area screamed. This was a sight they weren’t used too. Most began to flea, but the Devil’s Flame knew she had to stay. For there wasn’t anywhere she could go, anywhere she could run.

The first stood in front of her bat in hand. She knew that there would be others, she could hear them coming behind her. Using what she knew about her powers already, she unleashed a huge ball of fire right at the first. He blew apart in ash and dust.

Turning she saw her next two opponents. The one took a swing at her, a hatchet in hand. She leaned just in time to the see blow almost hit the henchman’s companion.

She focused inward, allowing the blow from the sledgehammer on the side. She knew there had to be more there.

Digging, digging, anticipating the next blow to the head or stomach, she found what she sought. She outstretched her hands and feet and let go a huge nova of fire from her base. Henchmen burst into flames, screaming and running.

“Hahahaha… you amuse me she devil! I see it will take more to kill my creation.” the voice in her head boomed. So loud this time, she stumbled into a parking lot, and leaned on a car for rest. “GET OUT OF MY HEAD!” She screamed, but no one was around to listen.

Then the noise again… the ground aflame, and the heat intense. “Oh god…” was all the Devil’s Flame could whisper. A group appeared, surrounding her against the car. She reacted to one, grabbing his head as he flew himself at her, leaping-frogging him and slamming into the car… killing him instantly. “So these guys have week necks, that will be handy…” she thought while landing on her feet.

She dodged the next blow, only to get one in the ribs from the particularly ugly one on the left. Something snapped, and it wasn’t another bad guy's neck.
